Neab Players Return to Train

New Earswick All Blacks players from every age groups have returned to train over the last 10 days and has been welcomed back by parents and players alike as lockdown restrictions continue to lift.

Over 70 players were seen down at the club under new training guidelines set out by the RFL which includes regular sanitisation breaks, non contact training and a maximum of 40 minutes of training. Children from the age of 11 and under were using the new equipment that has been funded by the #CreatedBy RLWC2021 funding bids.

Open Age Coach and Secretary Matt Cannon said of the return to train: “It was fantastic to see so many juniors and open age players return to the club after such a long lay off. It was so important to get back when we could for everyones mental health and wellbeing and we look forward to starting to play again”

The players had a great time seeing friends and getting back into a rugby routine, and really enjoyed being back at White Rose Avenue:

Jake Shaw U12s said: “It means the world! Super glad to be back at training and can’t wait for next week.”

George Dodsworth U12s: “ It was great to be back with my mates and getting a ball back in hand doing the sport I love”

Bayley Jones U12s “Its good to be back playing the sport I love and to be back with my mates and coaches”

Jamie Foreman “It felt so good to be back and training with the team and having fun.”

Thomas Jacqurs-Averill and Charlie Tinker said; “Its the best day since lockdown, I am so happy to be back”

Riley Barstow said; “ Its great to be back and get fit again, spend time with my friends and have fun, plus it means I am not sat on my xbox.”

Darcy Sheriff from the Under 17s said; “It was really enjoyable to be back and training was really constructive and I look forward to more sessions.”

Parents agreed with the kids that it was so good for the children to be back “My son has found lockdown really tough, so it is great to see him happy again.”

Welcoming players new and old back down to the club, here are the training times of the following age groups.

Tuesdays: Under 7s / 8s and 9s 6-7pm
Wednesdays: Under 13s 6-7pm —-Open Age 7-8pm

Thursdays: Under 12s 6-7pm — U18s 7-8pm
